> ℹ️ **Permissions**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ - You must have *View Rotations* authority to see the Rotations page in SiteConnect or NetworkConnect. By default this will be held by a PLANNER, SCADA OPERATOR, SCADA ADMINISTRATOR or SP OPERATOR.
> ℹ️ - You must have *Manage Rotations* authority to create, modify, or delete rotations in NetworkConnect (you cannot manage rotations in SiteConnect). By default this will be held by a PLANNER or SCADA ADMINISTRATOR.

A rotation is a period during which a fixed amount of water is supplied to a specific area. Use the Rotations screen to create rotations and to view rotations that have been created for an area.

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ Rotations are typically used during periods of water shortage to rotate water availability around the various areas in the network so that irrigators know in advance when water will be available in their area and can plan their irrigation program accordingly.

# Viewing Current and Past Rotations

By default, the rotations screen shows the rotations for all areas to which you have access, but you can use the filter to search by area, area type, time period and rotation status.

## View Rotations on a Gantt Chart

Use the Chart tab on the Rotations screen to show the list of rotations as a Gantt chart. Use the tool under the chart to zoom the time period in or out.

# Orders for Rotations

Rotations deliver water to the rotation area. This may be done in two ways by setting the order entry mode:

- *Self Service* - An order (setpoint) is automatically placed on the upstream boundary setflow regulator for the area. Water is automatically supplied to the area and irrigators may use it or not as they choose by placing orders for their outlets. The setpoint is removed at the end of the rotation.

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ If you are using this method you MUST define the upstream boundary regulator as an **explicit setflow**. See the DMS [Setflows](https://support.rubiconwater.com/help/dms/content/topics/modules/setflows/land_setflowsmodule.htm) module documentation for details of how to do this.
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ To view or manage the setflow see [https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/NC/pages/1952350209](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/NC/pages/1952350209) .

- *Parallel* - Orders are created for all the outlets in a rotation starting at the rotation start time.

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ If there are any outlets for which orders cannot be successfully placed, they will be listed in the [Data Audit Log](https://support.rubiconwater.com/help/dms/content/topics/modules/dataauditlog/land_dataauditlogmodule.htm?Highlight=audit%20).

# View Rotation Details

> ℹ️ **Permissions**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ Only a PLANNER can view rotation details.

In NetworkConnect you can view the details of a rotation by choosing **View** from the Rotation options menu.

Click on a site in the Site list or an order in the Orders list to navigate to the details screen for the item.

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ The orders list can be sorted and filtered if you open it in full screen mode.
