**Demand Prediction** is a module in DMS that calculates the predicted water demand for an area and a time period. It is used to determine how much water the network should supply to the area.

> ℹ️ You can run a demand prediction before creating a Rotation for an area. This will allow you to calculate the flow you need to provide at the boundary regulator for the rotation area.

> ℹ️ Demand Prediction is not a standard feature of DMS. Contact Rubicon Support if you are interested in Demand Prediction.

The prediction is based on the following configured data:  
**Configured in DMS:**

- Expected evaporation rates which are stored in the Targets module.

**Configured in NetworkConnect**

- [Crop Types](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/NC/pages/1914765888) and their crop factors
- [Irrigation Units](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/NC/pages/1930166354/Irrigation+Units+and+Plantings#Creating-and-Managing-Irrigation-Units) which define the areas to be irrigated
- [Plantings](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/NC/pages/1930166354/Irrigation+Units+and+Plantings#Creating-and-Managing-Plantings) which associate a crop type with an irrigation unit and a planting period.
