# Layout of the Trend Screen

This is the screen you will see if you open a trend from the trends page or from the Site or Alarms pages.

1. Set the time period for the trend chart.
2. Set the data sampling algorithm for the trend chart.
3. Trend chart menu options.
4. Trend chart legend.
5. Trend chart zoom controls.

# Setting a Time Period

Use the drop-down field to choose a time period:

> ℹ️ If there is no data available for the whole of the period you choose, only the period that has data available will be displayed.

- The default time period is the last twelve hours.
- Select Custom to enter a custom time period. When selecting a custom period for trends (or search), the date range will begin on 00:00 am on the start date and end on 23:59:59 of the end date.

# Saving a Trend

Save the trend by tapping the  :saveTrend: **Save** icon. 

- If you are saving the trend from the Trends list this will save the trend as a new trend rather than overwrite your existing saved trend.
- If you are saving from the site history screen or from an alarm trend your saved trend will now be available in the [https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/NC/pages/2134769666](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/NC/pages/2134769666) list.

# Resetting the graph

To reset the graph to the default settings, tap the :resetIcon: **Reset** icon. This will set the included tags back to the defaults.
