# Viewing Plantings

To see plantings defined for an Irrigation Unit choose **View** from the Irrigation Unit menu to open the Irrigation Unit Summary screen.

From the Plantings list you can

- Choose **Modify** to view the details of a planting and (optionally) make changes to the planting.

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ You can change the harvest date of a planting provided the harvest date is no earlier than the finish time of any pending order for the planting. (This will allow you to change the area of the associated irrigation unit once that harvest date is passed.)

- Choose **Delete** to delete the planting.

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ You can’t delete a planting that has been used for ordering or in a rotation.

- Use the **Add Planting** option at the bottom right of the screen to create a new planting.

# Creating a Planting

You can create a planting for an irrigation unit provided that the planting does not overlap with any other planting for the unit. Use the **Add Planting** option at the bottom right of the plantings list to create a new planting.

Enter the following details:

- Crop Type - select the crop type from the drop down list.
- Planting Date - date when the the crop is planted.
- Harvest After - the expected number of days from planting to harvest.
- Harvest Date (optional) - the expected harvest date.
- Refill Point (optional for metered outlets, required for unmetered) - Enter the soil moisture level at which irrigation should be triggered. If there is a refill point specified for the crop type this will be defaulted in here.
- Saturation Delay (optional) - time that the system allows between detecting saturation and checking soil moisture again.
- Wilting Point (optional) - minimum acceptable soil moisture level for this crop.
- Description (optional) - a descriptive name for the planting. This will appear in the plantings list when you create an order so choose a description that will make the planting easy to identify.

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ You can only have one planting on an Irrigation Unit at a time. You will be warned if your planting dates overlap with another planting.
