# Messages Screen

> ℹ️ You will not be able to see messages to an area or group or for orders in an area/group unless you **currently** have planner access for the area/group. Your system may be configured so that you only have PLANNER access to an area/group while you are logged in as the planner for that area/group in DMS.

Use the Messages screen in NetworkConnect and SiteConnect to view:

- Messages sent directly to you.
- Messages that you have sent.
- Messages attached to orders (you may need to be logged in to DMS as a planner to see these).
- Messages sent to an area or group for which you are a planner (you may need to be logged in to DMS as a planner to see these).

You can search the message and filter the message list to show only *Read* or *Unread* messages.

1. *Create a new message (when authorised)*
2. *Filter messages by All, Read, and Unread*
3. *Search messages*
4. *Filter by message type and by whether a message has a reason applied.*
5. *Toggle between sent and received messages*
6. *Message type (text, voice, or call log.*
7. *Click on a message to open it*

# Filter Messages

- Filter messages by their read status by choosing an option from the :messageStatus: **Message **status dropdown.
- Filter messages by message type in the :SettingsIcon: Settings options.
- Filter messages by whether or not they have a readson in the :SettingsIcon: Settings options

# Links to Orders, Plans, Sites and Customers

Messages related to specific orders or sites may include tags that link back to the order or the site, and to the sender. Click on the tag to follow the link.

- Location tags on text messages will link back to the relevant site details page.
- Order tags will link to the order details page unless the order is in the latest (NetworkConnect) plan and the user has authority to view the plan. In that case, the order tag will link to the order in its segment.
- Sender tags on voice messages and call logs will link to the customer details page of the person who sent the message.

# Adding Reasons and Notes to Messages

Planners can add reasons and notes to incoming messages in the Notes panel of a message. Reasons will be saved as a tag on the message. 

To add a reason or a note, open the incoming message and click the :Edit: **Edit** icon.

# Mark a Message as Unread

When you open a message it will be marked as *Read*. To mark the message as *Unread* again, open the message and tap the :unreadIcon: **Unread** icon at the top right of the message.
