# Creating a Rotation

**Step 1**

Tap the **Add** button at the bottom right of the Rotations List.

**Step 2**

Fill in the following details:

- **Rotation Name** - Pick a meaningful name for the rotation
- **Area Name** - Pick the area from the dropdown list
- **Start/End Date** - Specify the start and end date and time. The application will display the duration of the rotation.
- **Planned Flow Rate** - specify the planned flow into the rotation area.
- **Mode** - Choose *Self Service* to allow irrigators to place their own orders, or *Parallel* to place orders on all outlets automatically. See [https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/NC/pages/1914765993/Rotations#Orders-for-Rotations](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/NC/pages/1914765993/Rotations#Orders-for-Rotations) .
- **After** - (Optional) If you are creating a repeating rotation, enter the offset in days between the end of the first rotation and the start of the next.
- **Repeat** - (Optional) Specify the number of times to repeat the first rotation. For example, for three rotations, the repeat should be *2*. Use the flow chart to check that your settings are correct.

**Step 3**

Click **Save** to save your rotation.

Creating a rotation means that a flow setpoint is placed on the top setflow regulator for the area. If you do not have a setflow, or if you have more than one setflow, you will be warned that no setpoint has been created for the rotation.

# Notice Periods for Rotations

You can configure notice periods for rotations using the following attributes:

| **Attribute** | **Description** | **Available Scope** |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Lodge Notice Minimum | Minimum notice required for creating a rotation | area, planning area, system |
| Lodge Notice Maximum | Maximum time in advance for creating a rotation. | area, planning area, system |
| Change Notice | Notice required to make changes to a rotation. | area, planning area, system |

# Creating Orders for Parallel Rotations

If you create a parallel rotation, orders will be created automatically for outlets within the rotation area. You will see a progress bar showing you the stage of the creation process. When the orders have been created, you will see an indication of how many orders were successfully created and how many failed.

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ You can’t make any changes to the rotation during the order creation process.

# Linking or Unlinking an Order to a Rotation

You can add orders to a rotation provided they are within the rotation area and period. You can also remove orders already within a rotation. To link an order to a rotation click the Link Rotation button and select the rotation to link to the order.

To unlink an order from a rotation, click the **Unlink Rotation** button

> ℹ️ **Example**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ If an order was not successfully created automatically you could create the order manually and add it to the rotation.

# Modifying or Cancelling a Rotation

Use the options menu on the Rotations list to modify or cancel rotations. You can change any of the properties of a pending rotation but if the rotation is already operating you can only change the finish date and time and the rotation flow rate.

Any orders or setflow-setpoints that are associated with the rotation will be modified or cancelled accordingly.
