There are two different ways to requestt an order using crops. The type you use will depend on how your Water Authority has configured ordering.

- If you are using irrigation units, you will set a flow rate for your order and specify which plantings will be supplied and in what proportions.
- If you are not using irrigation units, you will specify what proportion of the order will be supplied to each available planting but you do not need to specify a flow rate. The application will calculate the flow rate for you based on the area and crop type that your water authority has configured for each planting.

If you are ordering by crop type an additional Plantings panel will appear on the Orders screen.  Plantings will appear on the list if they will be active when the order starts.
