# Restrictions

Typically you will create and finalize a plan for an area or group, publish the plan and then repeat the planning at a future date when there are new orders to schedule. These are the restrictions that apply when you are creating a plan:

- There must not be a plan for the same day and area/group.
- There must not be an **earlier** plan for the area/group that **has not** been finalized.
- There must not be a **later** plan for the area/group that **has** been finalized.

# Create a Plan

When you log in to a planning area the Plan Details screen will open at the latest plan for the area.

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ You can switch to another planning area by using the **Switch to a new planning area** menu option in the Plan Details screen.

To create a new plan, select a date for the plan from the drop down calendar. The calendar shows the dates that already have plans either published (green) or draft (orange).

- Pick a date to start creating a plan for that date.

- Then complete the Create Plan dialog:

These are the details required to create a plan:

- Area/Group - The area or group to which the plan will apply. This will be defaulted in for you from the View Plan dialog but you can change the area or group here if necessary.
- Plan Date - The date for the plan. This will also be defaulted in for you but can be changed if necessary (provided the new date does not conflict with an existing plan).
- Range - The range of orders to include in the plan. This time range will be defaulted in for you based on the selection you made the last time you created a plan but you can change it if you wish. Note that the date range must include the plan date.

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ By default, older unplanned orders will be included in the plan but you can configure the system to [exclude all orders](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/NC/pages/3033333948/Configuring+Planning+Features+for+Planners#Restricting-Orders-outside-the-Plan-Range) that fall outside the plan range.

Click **Create** to create your new plan. The plan will open in the **Plan Details** screen and will have a status of *Initiated*.

# Plan Details Screen

This is how the Plan Details screen will appear when you first create the plan.

1. *Plan name and planner*
2. *Plan date and status (green = published, orange = draft). Hover over the date to view the date range, or click the date to view the plan calendar.*
3. *Reset the active planner for this plan (Area Administrators only)*
4. *Search orders in the plan*
5. *Filter scheduled orders*
6. *Configure the layout of the segment panels and set the planner’s contact details (for voice-call enabled systems)*
7. *Switch between order list and demand graph view (in View Only mode the ****Schedule**** button will be replaced with a ****View Only**** button)*
8. *Apply Changes button - apply changes and (optionally) publish the plan.*
9. *Plan menu options - autoschedule the plan, reset plan changes, or switch to a different planning area.*
10. *Create a new Segment/Head button.*
11. *Filter and group the Unscheduled Orders list*
12. *Order flow rate - for multiflow orders this will show the change of flow rate during the plan period. You can see the details of these flow items (and also any earlier or later flow items) by expanding the order details panel.*

## View Order Details

Click on a row to view more details of the order.

# Searching, Filtering, and Grouping

## Searching for Orders

You can search for orders by

- Outlet name
- Operator first name, last name or preferred name
- Order number

Click the :searchIcon: **Search** icon in the Plan Details screen menu bar to open the search field. Entering a search term will filter the Unscheduled Orders list to show only matching orders. The Segment panels will show the number of matching orders in the segment. Open the segment details screen to show the matching orders (or click the :expandIcon: **Expand** icon at the bottom of the segment section if you are displaying the segments vertically).

## Filtering the Unscheduled Orders List

You can filter the Unscheduled orders list by entering the following filter details in the relevant form fields:

- **Flow range** - by entering a minimum and maximum flow to include in the list
- **Type of irrigation **(All, Flood, or Drip)

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ You must set the **Irrigation Type** attribute of the outlets to filter by irrigation type.

- **Regulator** (Head) that supplies the order.

> ℹ️ **Note**
> ℹ️
> ℹ️ The regulator filter uses your channel structure to identify the headgate. See [https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/NC/pages/2299756611](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/NC/pages/2299756611) for details of how to configure this.

#### Filter Unscheduled Orders by Order Status

You can use the filters in the :filterIcon: **Filters** panel to filter the Unscheduled Orders list by Order status.

## Grouping

You can group the unscheduled orders list by:

- Upstream regulator (or Sidegate) - you must have set up your [outlet-regulator relations](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/NC/pages/3032055810) to use this.
- Water Account (or Parcel)
- Outlet (or Service Point)
- Requested start date.

# Setting Your Contact Preferences

If you are using a voice-enabled system (such as Twillio), you can set your contact preferences during your planning session. Click the :SettingsIcon: **Settings** icon to access the call settings.

- You can specify whether or not you are available to take voice calls. If you turn this feature off, any calls will automatically to to voicemail
- You can use a different number from your default number during the planning session but it will reset when you log out.

The next step is to begin scheduling orders.
