> ℹ️ - Users with *Manage Customer Roles* scope can add or remove existing customers as owners or operators of a water account.
> ℹ️ - Users with *Manage Customer Details* scope can register a new customer and give them owner or operator access to a water account.

> ℹ️ Typically these authorities are held by the SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR role.

You can use the **Contacts** tab on the Water Account Details screen to quickly add users as Owners or Operators for a Water Account.

> ℹ️ Retired parties are marked with a :retired: **Retired** icon.


# Add an Operator

**Step 1**

Tap the Add Operator button.

**Step 2**

You can now either:

- Enter the name of an existing customer to search in the **Select Customer** field. When you choose a customer you will be able to click the Save button to save the user as a new Operator for any outlets associated with this Water Account.
- If you want to create a new customer, click **Register new customer**. You can then step through the process of [adding a new user](https://rubiconwater.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/NC/pages/2626387996). The new customer will automatically be registered as an operator for this Water Account.

> ℹ️ You must have the authority to create a new customer to use this option.

# Add an Owner

To add a new owner, click the **Add Owner** button and follow the same process as for adding an Operator.

# Remove an Owner or Operator

> ℹ️ You might want to remove a retired party from the contacts list.

To remove owners or operators, click the :removeRole: **Remove** icon beside the person you want to remove.
